Love was certainly in the air at St.James’ Church in Uplands on Valentine’s Day when we joined forces with Morriston Phoenix Choir for an evening of songs with a romantic flavour. We also enjoyed performances by talented soloist Danica Swinton and our very own accompanist Jonathan Lycett.
Over £450 was raised during this relaxed, Christmas themed evening in aid of HCPT. We were joined on stage by local singers Sarah Clatworthy and Natalie Edwards.
We were honoured to be the opening performers at this spectacular Gala Dinner, held in memory of Swansea born Jonny Thomas. The event raised over £15,000 for the following local charities – ‘Surfability’, which promotes inclusive surfing for people with disabilities, ‘2 Wish Upon A Star’, which raises funds to improve bereavement support for parents who have lost a child suddenly and traumatically, the ‘Special Baby Care Unit’ at Singleton Hospital and Swansea City Centre Night Pastors.
It may have been raining, but the weather didn’t dampen our spirits as we rose to the challenge of the 5k Race for Life. Our combined efforts raised over £1,300 for Cancer Research UK.
A good time was had by all as we played host to our visitors Saltash Ladies Choir from Cornwall. After a hearty buffet in the church hall the two choirs put on an enjoyable concert for Patrons and members of the public. The evening’s special guest was soloist Stephanie Hughes from Neath who charmed the audience with her mixed repertoire.
The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Swansea were among the many guests and members of the public that came along to enjoy our 8th Annual Concert. Also performing on the night were Harry Lynn, a talented vocalist studying at Gorseinon College, and Saxophony, an impressive group of young saxophonists from Pontarddulais Comprehensive School.
In April 2016 the choir proudly presented a cheque for £900 to staff from Ward 4 at Singleton Hospital. The money was used to buy chair and bed pressure alarm pads to benefit the elderly in their care.
